Supporting Relief Efforts Around the World

As part of its commitment to responsible global citizenship, Abbott has a long history of providing humanitarian relief around the world.

Most recently, the Abbott Fund provided over $3 million in cash to the Japanese Red Cross, AmeriCares and World Vets in response to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, and more than $1.1 million in critical diagnostic, nutritional and pharmaceutical products to address immediate and longer-term recovery needs following the flooding in the U.S., Thailand, Pakistan, South and Central America, and the earthquake in Turkey. In 2010, the Abbott Fund granted more than $930,000 in cash and $7 million in product in response to disasters, including the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile, and the flooding in Pakistan and Indonesia. This includes products pre-positioned throughout high-risk locations in the Gulf Coast, Central America and the Caribbean in advance of hurricane season as part of Abbott's yearly Hurricane Season Strategy.
