Project Exploration, a nonprofit science education program, targets students in Chicago traditionally overlooked by science – particularly minority youth and girls. In an age when four out of five jobs require science and technology skills, Project Exploration helps students experience the fun and excitement of science, with a personalized approach that includes fieldwork and leadership training in a variety of scientific disciplines. The program is at the forefront of science education, using the time after school, during weekends and over summer to make science accessible to underserved student groups.

The Abbott Fund also supports Project Exploration’s Sisters4Science program that combines science exploration with leadership development for approximately 100 minority middle school girls.
